Shiva Nataraj - God Shiva Dancing in Divine Fire
This representation of Shiva, God of Destruction and Rebirth, expresses the rhythm and harmony of life. Nataraj, which literally means King of the Dance, stands upon a dwarf who is the personification of illusion and ignorance, over whom Shiva triumphs. Shiva's four arms represent the four cardinal directions. Shiva's dance, in the ring of divine fire, is an accompaniment to the constant dissolution and reshaping of the world.
