Dewi Ratih Mask - Goddess of Beauty
The Goddess of Beauty, she is called upon during the tooth-filing ceremony, a beautification ritual, wherein the person undergoing the rite is prepared to attract someone of the opposite sex. Dewi Ratih brings success, health, protects against evil and brings us the beauty of flowers. The birds perched in her hair symbolize the unity of humans and nature. This serene mask was hand carved in Capaka wood from the magnolia family in the I. B. Ambara workshop in the village of Mas in Bali.
