Buddha Mask - Bali
Buddha is a favorite subject of many carvers in Bali. Although the religion and culture in Bali is primarily Hindu, Buddha is considered to be a reincarnation of the Hindu God Vishnu and statues of Buddha can be seen in various Hindu temples on the island. The subtle veining of the smoothly finished crocodile wood, adds to the serenity of the image.
