Loro Blonyo - Puppet Wedding Couple
Wearing their batik sarongs and batik jacket for the man and batik kebaya for the woman, this loving pair are a much beloved icon in the Island of Java. The Wedding Couple's gift is health, prosperity and fertility for the newly married in Java.
This type of three-dimensional puppet is called Wayang Golek in Indonesia. The head can turn and the arms are manipulated by the bamboo sticks attached to the hands. The head and hands are painted wood.
