Perahu Wayang - Terra Cotta Sculpture from Java
Resembling a ship, this sculpture symbolizes the institution of marriage. Represented are the bride and groom (Loro Blonyo), the children they will have and the children they once were. The joined animals represent the unity of the upper and lower realms of the cosmos. Hand sculpted in terra cotta and finished with a white wash at the Jumbal workshop in the Kasongan village in Central Java, the statue is mounted on a black wood base. The price includes special packing and shipping anywhere in the United States of America.
