Bhoma Bell - Hand Crafted in Bali
Used in processionals and decoratively, the bulging eyes and fangs of the Bhoma, Son of the Earth, protect against malign spirits. This image can frequently be found over Hindu temple gateways and on cremation towers in Bali. It's function is to ward off evil.
Except for the clacking tongue and pupils of the eyes, which are inlaid ebony, this bell is hand carved out of one piece of brown hibiscus wood in the village of Sukawati.
